Are pets allowed? Anakeesta does not allow pets. However, ADA certified service animals are permitted. Please notify our staff when purchasing your ticket if you will be accompanied by a service animal.
Dogs can carry disease into the park's wildlife populations. Dogs can chase and threaten wildlife. The scent a dog leaves behind can signal the presence of a predator, disrupting or altering the behavior of park wildlife. Birds and other animals can be scared away from nesting, feeding, and resting sites.
As a general rule of thumb, yes, Gatlinburg is dog friendly. Dogs are allowed in campgrounds, picnic areas and along roads, but must be kept on a leash at all times.
At the Cades Cove motor trail, dogs are allowed to travel the loop in their owners car. However, park rangers request that owners refrain from taking their pets to the historic cabins that dot the motor trail.

Dogs are allowed at Clingmans Dome in the Parking lot. However, dogs are not permitted on the paved path to the Clingmans Dome Tower. It is also park policy that pets are not allowed on most hiking trails in the national park, including hiking trails around Clingmans Dome.
While dogs are not allowed inside the main sights, there is still plenty to see and do and the local landmarks make for great photo opportunities. The Great Light, for example, is one of the largest optics ever built and it's really special to visit the Titanic Walkway and see it at night, when it's lit up.

Animals cannot safely ride roller coasters such as the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Expedition Everest or any of the mountains. They can't be secured in the seat, so riding puts them at risk. They are permitted to board most other attractions as needed.

These service animals are allowed on Alcatraz Island and on Pier 33 Alcatraz Landing. Pets or companion animals are not allowed in either location.
According to Pawsitively Intrepid, an average-sized dog in good shape should be able to take a 5-10 mile hike in his stride. After proper conditioning, he can probably up that total to 20 or more miles in a day. Really avid 4-legged hikers in great condition can make 25 to 30 miles look easy.

The stairs to the summit are the most difficult; however, the views from the top are worth breaking a sweat for! Dogs are not allowed on the Stairway to Heaven as part of the route goes through a working farm.

The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas.
Dog-friendly Gondolas
At Northstar, a four-season Tahoe resort, they offer enclosed gondola rides so you can bring your dog with you for the price of a lift ticket! During non-ski season, hikers and dogs are welcome to ride on the Big Springs Gondola and the Zephyr Express lifts.
The genitals and anus are obvious areas to stay away from; dogs are protective of these areas just like humans. In general, other areas to avoid petting include the face, tail, feet, and legs. Hugging a dog should also be avoided unless you are certain the dog likes it.
Dogs are required to be on-leash at all times and remain on marked trails. Bring plenty of water for you and your pup! Southern Utah is no stranger to high temperatures and sun exposure – especially during summer months.

Anakeesta. Typically thought of as a daytime destination, Anakeesta is arguably even more enjoyable at night. The outdoor theme park is often open until 10 pm. If you visit on a Friday or Saturday evening, plan to ride the gondola up around sunset, when you'll enjoy a spectacular view.
Wait times for entry to the park are typically between noon and 3 PM, we encourage visitors to the park to arrive before noon to enjoy the park during the day. During the season, Anakeesta sees many visitors, which may increase wait times during your visit and may exceed 45 minutes.
Turns out, kids aren't the only ones that have fun at Anakeesta! Did you know there are more than 1500 black bears in the Smoky Mountains National Park. Ever since Anakeesta opened, one of those bears has stuck around and become a familiar face to our guests, we call her Ana.

Can I go to Disneyland with my dog?
Outside of service animals, unfortunately regular pets are not allowed in Disneyland Park. There is a kennel onsite for pets that are not service dogs to spend the day, while their owners enjoy Disneyland Resort.
